mother's arms
Standing at the edge
I peer into the blue
void I call home.
I kneel and wait
for a benevolent
breeze to send me
on my way; into
mother’s arms.
Throw me down
into the jaws of
my doorsteps,
the rocks,
ring with the sound
of my arrival.
I enter and
find myself in
mother’s arms.
Squeezing the life
out of my boyish
grin, I hang from
her apron strings
till my legs go
limp: I cannot
stand on my feet,
just lie in
mother’s arms.
